Welcome to 2025

The beautiful autumn colours have arrived and the village trees are a blaze of orange and gold! The end to the dry period of the late summer is past and the summer bedding is looking fantastic thanks to the rain and our tireless band of volunteers. Unfortunately we will have to remove the bedding in the coming weeks so that we can plant spring bulbs and some winter flowers.

We have had some negative feed back about our decision earlier in the year to stop planting new flowers in the village to combat the vandalism. If you are a regular in the village you will have seen that we have still a lot of colour and plants. We have planted robust perennials such as Berberis as well as reusing plants from other areas.

Thankfully this strategy seems to be working and the amount of vandalism has dropped significantly.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that W.I.B is not funded by the city council and has to raise all of the funds we need to keep working in the village. We receive support from the local retail businesses in the form of sponsorship for our calendar and raffle prizes. We also receive donations from generous residents.

The remainder of our funds we raise through our market stall, Open gardens and calendar.

Our calendars for 2026 features photographs of Old Woolton, the cost is still £5. They are available from the market stall, Brown's Newsagent, the Village Club or my contacting me directly via the web site or our Facebook page.
